This is a snippet from a BBC documentary called Pump Up The Volume. Listen to Armand Van Helden how he got into House Music and what his final words are in this snippet. I totally relate to what he's saying, he hit the nail right on the head.

I agree completely.
I visited New York just after the Sound Factory closed, although the Sound Factory Bar was still open at that time.
I do long for that time, when people were passionate about music and made money from it, rather than being completely cynical and making music in order to make money, which is not at all the same thing.
This blog (and others) help me reconnect with that era, but that time of innocence and energy is gone forever I fear.
One thing that I will always keep in my heart is that house music changed my life forever. I never really thought that this unique style of music would play such a factor in my music collecting.
I have always played for private parties with my uncle, it was one day that I found a CD single of Jay Dee - Plastic Dreams in my uncle's stash that introduced me to house music directly. I was hooked!!!
Don't get me wrong, if it wasn't for the foundations of the Motown sound, Stax Records, the Disco Era, Kraftwerk and Afrika Bambaataa I don't think that I would have loved music as much.
I will share my love of house to the next generation because they need to know that the essence of the groove is right here. So continue to jack yo body to the sound of the underground! Peace and blessings!
